(IN-PERSON) BoF: Open-Source Developer Burnout, And How to Avoid It - Caterina Rindi & Alex Scammon, G-Research

Open-source endeavors often start as passion projects driven by enthusiastic maintainers. As they grow with users and creative applications, the motivations and responsibilities shift: programmers can lose their sense of purpose, feeling the burden of being always-on, or the pressure of holding the project together, fielding demands and criticism alone. Developer burn-out is common, global, and can be disastrous to the health of a project, and more importantly, the career and health of the coder. In this session we'll invite folks to talk about their experiences, and share how we have dealt with it in our open-source projects, and with the developers and maintainers vital to our teams.
