If you build it, they will…..? In the open-source world, the nature of open contribution doesn’t come with guardrails for.... well for much. This creates an interesting situation for maintenance and sustainability. This talk will explore methods of creating more sustainability in open source pipelines. This talk will discuss financial scaffolds, mentorship models, community engagement support, and other models that can impact open source sustainability. The talk will also examine the risks of abandoned open code. With many companies wanting to support open source, this talk will explore how corporations may consider sustainability as a factor in their open source contribution strategy and support decisions.
