Picture this: you've got an awesome product idea, you've even found an ideal SoC and an ODM who will fab your board which does everything you need. How hard could it possibly be? In this talk, Chris will walk through the process of bringing your consumer device to market, including distribution building and continuous-integration workflows including automated testing, how to ensure your device has a long lifetime including secure and validated OTA updates, factory provisioning workflows, and more. This talk is not a sales pitch for a particular distribution or toolkit, but instead the lessons learned by many manufacturers painfully discovering the answer to: 'we've got the hardware, we've got our app, how hard could it possibly be?'.
