Justin has a decade of experience representing clients at the intersection of free & open source software communities and for-profit enterprises. At GitHub, he works advocating for developers' ability to innovate, collaborate, and have equal opportunity. At Microsoft, he is part of a small team that oversees legal processes to enable open source engagement at massive scale. Justin maintains an active pro bono practice for free & open source software communities. He currently provides ongoing counseling to Outreachy, a project that provides paid internships supporting diversity in open source. He previously provided pro bono advice to the Free Software Foundation, Software Freedom Conservancy, the Apache Software Foundation, the Open Source Initiative, and the GNOME Foundation. A published computer scientist in a past life, Justin also has significant experience with patent litigation both in private practice and as a law clerk in the District of New Jersey.
