Stephanie Lieggi joined CROSS as Assistant Director in 2016. In this position, she supports the work of the Center’s open source projects and enables a sustainable contributor base through the establishment and implementation of hands-on mentorship programs. Stephanie has also promoted the use of open source and related development in academic settings as well as efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in open source ecosystems. Prior to coming to UCSC, Stephanie worked as a Senior Research Associate and Adjunct Professor at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). Her research included the impact of emerging technologies on global nonproliferation efforts and the engagement of industry in efforts to curb the spread of sensitive dual-use technologies. Stephanie also previously worked at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague. She received her Master of Arts (MA), International Policy Studies from MIIS, and BA, Political Science from UC San Diego.
